U.P. steam locomotive
to make stop in Blair
Union Pacific Railroad's
"Living Legend" will make a stop in Blair on Friday, Aug. 4. U.P.'s
steam locomotive No. 844 is scheduled for a 30-minute service stop near the 12th
Street crossing in Blair. The train is on its way to events in Council Bluffs,
Iowa, and Omaha. No. 844 is scheduled to arrive in Blair at 2 p.m. on Friday and
depart for Council Bluffs at 2:30 p.m. No. 844 was delivered in 1944 as a
high-speed passenger engine before being placed in freight service in Nebraska
between 1957 and 1959. It was the last steam locomotive built for Union Pacific.
