Timeline Related to the 
Blair Bridges

1855 -- Carter brothers settled in the valley that would one day be come the city of Blair

1864 -- Trains first crossed the Missouri River by ferry and travel west through "Carter Valley" at present day Blair.

1869 -- John I. Blair sale of city plots

1870's -- Trains were ferried across river during summer and across a "Winter Bridge" when the river was froze.

1881 -- Contract for the first Railroad Bridge

1881 -- Major flood on the Missouri River  (April)

1883 -- Whipple Truss (Flat top) Railroad Bridge completed (October)

1924 -- Whipple truss Bridge (Flat top) replaced with a Parker Truss Bridge (Round Top)

1929 & 1967 Whipple Truss Bridge sections relocated to Wyoming

1929 -- Abraham Lincoln Memorial (Auto) Bridge (Highway 30)
   Dedicated July 26, 1929

1950 -- Last  passenger train through Blair,  effectively ending all regular passenger service (June 3, 1950)

1962 -- Auto  Bridge became Toll Free Bridge

1991 -- New Missouri River Automobile Bridge
