Blair: Reminisce!
NEED PROJECT DESCRIPTION     Oral History Program with Guests

from Tom:
A. Destruction by Nature - floods, fire, decay, etc.
B. Destruction by Ignorance - "I didn't know what it was, didn't think it was important (per the article)?
C. Destruction by Choice - "We simply can't afford to keep it. We choose destruction to preservation as a matter of financial (or other) choice.
D. Destruction by Vandals - "I don't like this and I don't want any one else to have it." "That'll show 'em."

Would be nice to offer a free in-house session to the city records people regarding this topic. It would be interesting to solicit and catalogue or at least provide a list of items lost by other municipalities as the basis for education on type B loss. As in "Don't let this happen to you."

Ideas

  • Helen (Pedersen) McNichols would be a good addition to your local resources list. She's a longtime Blair resident, and her father was a local doctor.

  • From Ed Jipp  1/26/02  -- Dick Lippincott --  talking about the halfway house that is a part of the early Lippincott History and he said he thought he could do that. He has prepared a summary of the historical data about the building. At this point it has deteriorated probably beyond the point of restoration but it is an important part of our early Washington County History. Bill Tripp might be a candidate for this discussion as well.

  • From Eldora  2/20/03 -- Georgia Matzen (age 90) & friend Donna Husk are interested in the Blair Reminisce Programs.
