HISTORIC HOMES TO BE TOPIC AT PICNIC
The Blair community is filled with a number of older homes. But what makes an old home "historic"? This will be the topic of the Historical Homeowners Picnic to be held this Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at Steyer Park, 18th & Lafayette Streets, Blair, Nebraska. The event is sponsored by the Blair Historic Preservation Alliance to help celebrate May as National Historical Preservation Month.

Owners and occupants of some of Blair's Old and Historic homes are invited to this picnic to share information about their homes and neighborhoods. Event coordinator Nathan Krämer states, "This will be a great time to meet others who are interested in Blair's residential architecture and history." A picture display of historic homes will be on display, and information helpful in researching historic homes in Blair will be available.

Krämer explains that the age of a home is not the only criteria used in thinking of a home as historic. "Many homes here in Blair have some very interesting architectural details, and others have important histories as to their builders and former occupants."

Anyone with an interest in Blair history and those living in an older homes in Blair are welcome to attend. Hot dogs, bratwurst, salads and beverages will be provided. Guests are welcome to bring a dessert to share. For more information or to RSVP, contact Nathan Krämer at 426-2828 or send email to mail@BlairHistory.com.
