Blair, Nebr., Feb. 3, 2003 -- Jeffrey Spencer, executive director of Landmarks, Inc., Omaha, will speak on “History and Historic Preservation in Blair, Nebraska” on Thursday, February 13, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room of the Blair Public Library. His free public talk is sponsored by the Blair Historic Preservation Alliance and its new Blair Historic Properties Registry.

At Landmarks, Inc., a nonprofit organization, Spencer is involved with historic preservation in Omaha. Over the past 35 years, however, because of family connections he has also made an extensive study of the history of Blair and Washington County.

Spencer has served as a trustee of the Nebraska State Historical Society, as executive director of the historic General Dodge House in Council Bluffs, as director of the Library/Archives Center of the Douglas County Historical Society and as president of the Trans-Mississippi Exposition Historical Association. He has also been a consultant to local and national organizations involved in historic preservation.
