Downtown Window Display of Historic Photos

Project:  As way to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month (May) the BHPA could host a display of giant enlargements of historic photos of Blair in windows of main street business.

The BHPA archive has a number of vintage photographs of Blair.  This photos have been scanned and could be reproduced in a giant format (8 X 12 -foot format) using a special software program designed to produce enlargements on standard 8 1/2 x 11-inch printer page.  These reproductions do have a grid of white lines at the intersection of each piece of paper, whoever, it does not appear to be an obstacle in the viewing of the image.  (See example currently at Kindermusik.) Expense would be limited to paper, tape and promotional material.

Perimeters: Must have permission from business, must have a window where the large picture can be taped up from the inside.  Limit the display to 1 week, or 5 days, etc.  Each display gives credit to the BHPA.

Possible Timeline:
February -- Develop all promotional materials
March -- Select photos for possible pool to choose from.
March & April --  Obtain permission from business and make arrangements for the installation.
May -- Display and removal

Related Events:  Could have a photo post card exhibit at the WC Museum, library, Chamber office, or one of the banks.

Promotional Benefits: Cause for at least 1 major news cycles.  Plus, receive community exposure because of prime location.

Production: Nathan can gather the high res scan files, place of a flash drive with the enlargement software and handed to committee member to produce.  Photo display could also be one line with more develop descriptions of each of the photos.
