| The Blair Historic Preservation Alliance is carrying on the
tradition started in 1996 by the local Kiwanis Club of publishing an annual
calendar with photos of old Blair.
The cover of the 2005 calendar features a 1958 photo of Washington Street looking west from the 16th Street intersection. Other photos include the 1912 laying of the Fire Hall cornerstone, the 1872 three-story mansard-roofed schoolhouse and the adjacent, still-standing 1899 school building, a gas station operated by Dana College students in the early years of the Depression, and several early residences. The calendar can be purchased at the Blair Area Chamber of Commerce, Blair West Pharmacy, the Public Library, Pounds Printing, Blair Book and Supply, Swerve Gallery, Blair Super Foods, and the Washington County Museum. |
