Whereas,
In 1929, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Bridge across the Missouri River opened for traffic, replacing an earlier ferry crossing.

And Whereas,
In 1930, the Lincoln Highway Association ordered several crews to move, Lincoln Highway markers from the original route through Council Bluffs to the new one through Blair and the route then became known as the Lincoln Highway.

And Whereas,
The Lincoln Highway Association, which formed in 1913, directed the formation of a transcontinental automobile route.

And Whereas,
The Lincoln Highway Association, as its last official act and with the help of Boy Scouts nationwide, marked and dedicated the road as the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Highway by placing markers along the route on September 1, 1928.

And Whereas,
The Blair Historic Preservation Alliance, with partial funding from the Blair Community Foundation, to commemorate the above mentioned events, has erected a marker on the corner of Tenth and Jackson Streets in the City of Blair.

Now, Therefore,
Today, September 1, 2006, I, Jim Realph, Mayor of the City of Blair dedicate this marker to commemorate the 1930 route of the Lincoln Highway through Blair.
